A Comparison between Domain Decomposition and Fully Implicit Approaches for a Parallel 3d Upwind Flow Solver

چکیده
An implicit method for the solution of the 3D supersonic Euler equations is presented. The numerical technique adopted is a nite volume method based on an unfactored implicit upwind scheme. A great relevance is given to the deenition of the implicit operator and to the solution of the linear systems. A preconditioned iterative solver has been used showing better performance than unpreconditioned version. Implementation of the code has been executed on two MIMD supercomputers. The implicit nature of the scheme allows to follow two approaches: a parallel domain decomposition technique and a fully implicit parallel method. Comparisons between the two strategies, in terms of advantages and disadvantages are presented.

Mixed Large-Eddy Simulation Model for Turbulent Flows across Tube Bundles Using Parallel Coupled Multiblock NS Solver
In this study, turbulent flow around a tube bundle in non-orthogonal grid is simulated using the Large Eddy Simulation (LES) technique and parallelization of fully coupled Navier – Stokes (NS) equations. To model the small eddies, the Smagorinsky and a mixed model was used. This model represents the effect of dissipation and the grid-scale and subgrid-scale interactions. The fully coupled NS eq...
متن کاملA New Implicit Dissipation Term for Solving 3D Euler Equations on Unstructured Grids by GMRES+LU-SGS Scheme
Due to improvements in computational resources, interest has recently increased in using implicit scheme for solving flow equations on 3D unstructured grids. However, most of the implicit schemes produce greater numerical diffusion error than their corresponding explicit schemes. This stems from the fact that in linearizing implicit fluxes, it is conventional to replace the Jacobian matrix in t...

متن کاملA parallel fully coupled implicit domain decomposition method for numerical simulation of microfluidic mixing in 3D
A parallel fully coupled implicit fluid solver based on a Newton–Krylov–Schwarz algorithm is developed on top of the Portable, Extensible Toolkit for Scientific computation for the simulation of microfluidic mixing described by the three-dimensional unsteady incompressible Navier–Stokes equations. The popularly used fractional step method, originally designed for high Reynolds number flows, req...
متن کاملIncompressible laminar flow computations by an upwind least-squares meshless method
In this paper, the laminar incompressible flow equations are solved by an upwind least-squares meshless method. Due to the difficulties in generating quality meshes, particularly in complex geometries, a meshless method is increasingly used as a new numerical tool. The meshless methods only use clouds of nodes to influence the domain of every node. Thus, they do not require the nodes to be conn...
